The top amateur riders of the 2011 season will meet up in Stavelot, Belgium, from September 9th to 11th, to race the final of the UCI World Cycling Tour (UWCT).

Riders from some 30 nations will have the right to race in this world final after qualifying in their respective age categories during the qualifying events of the UWCT series. In Stavelot, they will try to win one of the 16 World Champion titles at stake.

Riders in the Masters category will be after the coveted new rainbow jersey, while amateur riders aged from 16 to 29 will race in a specific ranking in the “challenger” category.

The UWCT qualifying events are part of the Cycling for All Calendar and must meet strict sporting and organisational criteria and be of touristic interest. Five events have already taken place: Perth (Australia), New York (United States), Evora (Portugal), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Huy (Belgium). The remaining two events will take place in August: Fort-Collins in the United States (19th – 21st) and Bulle, in Switzerland (28th).

The final in Stavelot (a charming historical town in the Haute-Ardenne) will be raced on a contrasting course: fairly flat at the beginning but then toughening up with three legendary mountain passes from the spring classic, Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
