Peter Sagan made it three-for-four in Switzerland Tuesday, winning the fourth stage at the Tour de Suisse. The Liquigas-Cannondale rider won a small bunch sprint over J.J. Rojas (Movistar) and Michael Albasini (Orica-GreenEdge) after a long day in the rain.

Rui Costa (Movistar) retained the overall lead over Fränk Schleck (RadioShack-Nissan) and Roman Kreuziger (Astana).

A thinned out peloton caught Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing), Lars-Peter Nordhaug (Sky) and Martin Elmiger (Ag2r La Mondiale) in miserably wet conditions 3km from the line. Elmiger blew off the group as Van Avermaet tried to push onward, but with Nordhaug in his wheel the BMC rider’s effort was for naught.

Liquigas was on the point of the race with 2.5km remaining, with Sagan second wheel as a number of riders, including Jakob Fuglsang (RadioShack-Nissan), tried late attacks. But with 800 meters to go, a single green jersey led out with Sagan three men back.

A BMC rider opened a long sprint on the finish straight, and Sagan stayed patient in the saddle on his wheel. With just over 100 meters to go, the Slovak stood and erased any doubt, coming around to the right and holding off Rojas and Albasini.
