UCI confirm remaining tests all negative
The UCI has announced that the Tour de France returned no additional positive anti-doping controls upon completion of the analyses.
“The Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation (CADF) has received the complete and final results of the last tests carried out at the Tour de France 2012. The samples received from the Châtenay-Malabry, Lausanne and Cologne laboratories all showed a negative result,” cycling’s governing body said in a press release.
However the news comes after Frank Schleck (RadioShack-Nissan) returned a positive sample at the Tour de France after stage 13. The 32-year-old was found to have traces of a diuretic, Xipamid, in his system.
The substance is banned by WADA and Schleck later denied taking the substance, which can be used as a masking agent. His B sample later returned the same findings and the Luxembourg Anti-Doping Agency (ALAD) sent Fränk Schleck’s case to its disciplinary committee, where it still sits.
