Bike Collective to host swap meet on Saturday

The Corvallis Bicycle Collective, a local nonprofit that seeks to make cycling more accessible, is hosting a swap meet as part of its collaborating with Corvallis Sustainability Coalition for the World Car Free Day Celebration. The bike swap is from 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday at Fifth Street and Madison Avenue. Admission is free.

People who attend the Fall Festival can drop off bicycles for sale on consignment. Sellers keep 85 percent of any sale proceeds and the remaining 15 goes to the Corvallis Bicycle Collective.

Required paperwork will be the responsibility of the bike collective, and bike valet parking for will be available next door, courtesy of Corvallis Sustainability Coalition. The collective also will bring used bikes from its shop for sale at the event.

The bike swap is a good way for local bicycle enthusiasts to trade their old rides for new ones, meet other cyclists, and to ask an on-site volunteer bike mechanic for advice.
